Our History & Founder
KEN POST
In the late 1960s, after graduating from Texas Christian University, Ken Post was unhappy in his job and looking for opportunities for business ownership. His brother-in-law owned and operated a custom frame shop in Richardson, Texas and offered to teach Ken the ins and outs of the business. Ken eagerly accepted his offer and in 1969 opened Ken’s Custom Frames & Gallery in Fort Worth, Texas.
When the store first opened, Ken rented space in a shopping center off Granbury Drive. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, the business flourished. By the mid-1980s, Ken had achieved a significant milestone — purchasing a building just down the street. Located at 5925 Wedgwood Drive, it remains the store’s home today.
Throughout the years, Ken’s wife, Jane, played an essential role in the company’s success, assisting with bookkeeping and daily operations. Ken was also fortunate to have two devoted long-term employees who greatly contributed to the store’s reputation: Ron Wilkerson, who passed away in 2008, and Robert Rodriguez, who continues to serve as Head Designer and Director of Customer Relations.
In 2015, Ken’s daughter, Wendy Williamson, assumed management of the store, continuing the family legacy. In 2019, she became the legal owner, ushering in a new era while honoring the tradition of excellence established by her father.
Over the decades, Ken’s Custom Frames has earned a reputation as the premier destination for high-end custom framing, shadowboxes, and complex framing projects. At the same time, we proudly offer competitive pricing on basic custom framing, paired with the expertise of a knowledgeable and attentive staff.
We have been privileged to work with esteemed corporate and nonprofit clients, including Texas Christian University, Tarrant County College, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Cook Children’s Health Care System, One Safe Place, the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra, the Texas Department of Transportation, Colonial Country Club, Mira Vista Country Club, and dozens of prominent local designers.
Today, Ken’s Custom Frames serves a large and devoted customer base in Southwest Fort Worth, with a reach that has expanded across Tarrant County. Our legacy is built on craftsmanship, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to preserving what matters most.
